Paris St. Germain vs FC Bayern Munich Betting Predictions and Odds

Champions League Final 2020 Betting Odds and Predictions

An extraordinary season will come to a very late end on Sunday, August 23, 2020. While the new season has already begun in one or the other league in Europe and the qualifying games for the European Cup competitions of the 2020/21 season have started, Paris St. Germain and FC Bayern Munich are contesting the Champions at the Estadio da Luz in Lisbon League Final 2020 – unfortunately as usual in front of empty ranks as in previous months.

Nonetheless, there is great hope for a worthy final, as there is no doubt that the French and German champions deservedly made it to the final. Especially with two convincing appearances in the semi-finals, in which both clearly put an opponent from the other country in their place. One day after PSG’s 3-0 win over RB Leipzig, Bayern prevailed against Olympique Lyon with the same result, preventing Ligue 1 from being among themselves in Lisbon.

In general, the final is now considered to be quite open, admittedly with a slight tendency towards the remarkably powerful and dominant FC Bayern. In the following, we take a closer look at the game and finally dare to make a prediction.

Champions League Final: Paris St. Germain vs FC Bayern Munich Betting Predictions and Odds

In the quarter-finals it looked long after the next big disappointment for Paris St. Germain. Once again, the dream of winning the Champions League seemed to burst prematurely when the last minute of the game against Atalanta Bergamo broke and a 0: 1 lit up on the scoreboard. But then coach Thomas Tuchel’s team rewarded themselves for never having fought the impending end. Marquinhos and Eric-Maxim Choupo Moting turned the game around in regular time and shot PSG into the semifinals.

This success against Bergamo was subsequently rated as a turning point for a team that too often did not act as such in the past. After the four-month long Corona break, despite the victories in the final of the Coupe de France (1-0 against AS St. Etienne) and in the league cup against Olympique Lyon (6: 5 on pens), much remained patchwork. But after the late success against Bergamo, PSG presented themselves very differently in the semifinals against RB Leipzig. Even superstar Neymar, who otherwise likes to take a break when moving backwards, worked for the team and at the same time set offensive accents again and again. Man of the day was Angel di Maria against Leipzig with one goal and two assists, but Kylian Mbappe and Neymar are also able to decide a game at any time.

It remains to be seen whether the goalkeeper Keylor Navas, who failed against Leipzig with a muscle injury, will be fit in time. If not, Sergio Rico will stand between the posts again. Otherwise, coach Tuchel should not make any changes. This also applies to Bayern coach Hans-Dieter Flick. Unless Jerome Boateng, who remained in the dressing room against Lyon at the break with muscular problems, has to pass. In this case, Niklas Süle would probably defend centrally alongside David Alaba.

And with all the offensive power that has been shown in the past months and especially after the summer break in the Champions League against FC Chelsea (4: 1), FC Barcelona (8: 2) and now Lyon (3: 0), it will be against PSG also come down to the Munich back line. This should better not allow itself any vulnerabilities like against Barcelona and Lyon, especially in the early stages, when a deficit would have been possible. Of course, with the currently brilliant offensive around Robert Lewandowski, Thomas Müller and Serge Gnabry, FC Bayern can also be trusted to turn a deficit. Such a scenario would of course be avoided on the way to the 27th win in 28 games (with a 0-0 win against RB Leipzig).

In the end, a lot will depend on whether Bayern get Neymar and Co. under control, especially since the Paris defense should not be easy to crack. The bottom line, however, is that we believe that the Munich team will master the 2020 Champions League final and bring the handle pot back to the Isar for the first time since 2013.
