Benin – Statistics & Current Form
The Benin, current number 91 in the FIFA World Ranking list, is under pressure before the appearance in Egypt. Nine years ago, the national team was dissolved without further ado. At the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations in Angola, the squirrels (Les Ecureuils) failed to sing and sound. Out of anger and disappointment, this was for a short time the end of football in Benin. Half a year later, however, there was the role backwards and the Benin has since seen again in internationals. The 2019 Africa Cup finals, however, are the first major event since leaving Angola nine years ago.
The team of French head coach Michel Dussuyer is in Egypt as a clear outsider and a progress in the second round could be rated as a great success. The big star is striker Steve Mounie. The 24-year-old is under contract with Premier League relegated Huddersfield Town and has a market value of ten million euros.
