Nevertheless, it will be an almost impossible undertaking for the footballers from the Braga district to qualify for international business. However, the fans reached their lowest point in the small Estadio Municipal 22 de Junho at the weekend when their team went down 7-0 at home against Vitoria Guimaraes. In the most recent three matches, the Sousa team conceded twelve goals. This is one of the reasons why there is almost no alternative between Famalicao and the formidable Benfica Lisbon.

However, the underdog has to be reassured that the cup competition obviously has a higher priority than the league, because there is no other way to explain that the coach spared some top performers on Saturday and switched on late in the game or even left them completely outside. This would at least explain why the odds on the front-runner between Famalicao and Benfica Lisbon are somewhat higher than we would have thought based on recent impressions.

Benfica Lisbon – Statistics & current form

With 26 titles in the Taca de Portugal, Benfica Lisbon is still the record winner in the most important Portuguese cup competition.
