In the 2nd Bundesliga five games before the end it looks more and more like a three-way battle between VfB Stuttgart, Hamburger SV and 1. FC Heidenheim for the second direct promotion place and the relegation rank. Arminia Bielefeld as the front runner seems to be barely able to catch up with a seven-point lead over third place and a catch-up game in the rear, but Stuttgart is only two points behind HSV and three points ahead of Heidenheim.
Any slip in the season finale could be fatal in the face of this tightness. It is rather unlikely that another team can intervene in the promotion battle given the five points that are already fifth between Heidenheim and SV Darmstadt 98.
Things are also tight in the table cellar. On the 30th matchday there are now several overlaps, except for the HSV, which has to do with Holstein Kiel located in the no man’s land, all top teams on teams that have to look back more or a little fearful .

After three consecutive draws, of which the points with the pursuers in Stuttgart (1: 1) and Hamburg (0: 0) were worth their weight in gold, Arminia celebrated their first victory since the beginning of March. At the same time, the team of coach Uwe Neuhaus is still undefeated with six wins and four draws in 2020. Of course, the East Westphalia want to continue this series against 1. FC Nürnberg.
The club, which was on the way to a safe midfield in the table with ten points from five games in February, is currently one of the most vulnerable teams. After the 0: 3 against Hannover 96 before the shutdown, Nuremberg has been waiting for a win since the restart. A 0: 1 at FC St. Pauli was followed by Erzgebirge Aue (1: 1), Jahn Regensburg (2: 2) and VfL Bochum (0: 0) three draws with which the team of coach Jens Keller largely met on the spot. The harmlessness of the offensive is particularly worrying. If Aue and Regensburg had not each scored an own goal, the FCN would have had only one goal from the last five games.
In view of the fact that the constitution is certainly not optimal, it is difficult for us to imagine that there is anything in Nuremberg for Bielefeld. Rather, we believe that thanks to the victory in Kiel, Bielefeld will show a really broad chest and the game will win for itself.

VfB Stuttgart vs VfL Osnabrück Betting Odds and Predictions (Sunday, June 7th)
After only one point from four games in the meantime, VfB Stuttgart set an example last week and demonstratively extended the contract with coach Pellegrino Matarazzo prematurely. The professionals, who were so clearly committed to the task, subsequently showed the hoped-for reaction. At first, the top game against Hamburger SV was won 3-2 after a deficit of 2-2, before a lackluster but deserved 2-0 victory was won at Dynamo Dresden.
Stuttgart now wants to expand the strong home record, which is the best in the league with eleven wins, a draw and two losses, against Osnabrück and to keep the small cushion on the pursuers. However, the Swabians have to prepare for a passionate guest who will leave no stone unturned to score surprisingly – and who was able to win the first leg 1-0 thanks to an early goal by Marcos Alvarez.
Osnabrück was unable to refine the hugely important 2-0 victory at SpVgg Greuther Fürth, the first three since mid-December and after ten games without a win, last weekend. After all, after a 0-2 deficit against SSV Jahn Regensburg with strong morale, the 2-2 draw was still successful. As the situation is still tense with only four points ahead of 16th, every point in Stuttgart would be of great importance for the team of coach Daniel Thioune on the way to relegation.
But even if Osnabrück will surely throw everything into the balance, in Stuttgart it should not normally be enough to count things. If VfB makes a clear and effective appearance like in Dresden, the points remain in Swabia.

Hamburger SV vs Holstein Kiel Betting Odds and Predictions (Monday, June 8th)
The late bankruptcy in Stuttgart (2: 3) was a severe blow to the neck of Hamburger SV, which also lost pole position in the race for second place. The next severe damper loomed on Sunday before a close game against SV Wehen Wiesbaden was won 3-2. The bottom line, however, is a meager two wins from the last eight games (2-3-3). A similar balance in the final spurt and the HSV threatens a third year in the 2nd Bundesliga, which should definitely be avoided.
The team of coach Dieter Hecking therefore wants the next three against Kiel. Stuttgart and Heidenheim should be able to win before the game at the end of the game day on Monday evening.
Kiel on the other hand has lost twice in a row, but can still travel to Hamburg with 38 points in the account largely without worry. In order to be on the safe side when it comes to relegation, however, a victory is still needed. You have good memories of the previous second division duels with HSV. Last season the storks won both the first leg in Hamburg (3: 0) and the return leg at home (3: 1). And in the first half of the year it was enough for a 1: 1.
Leaving feathers against Kiel again should be avoided for the HSV. And given the consistency with which Wehen Wiesbaden deservedly won despite the setbacks during the 90 minutes, we also believe that HSV will score triple for the first time in league two against Kiel.
